Greetings,
Welcome to the Charlotte Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. Our chapter consists of dedicated women who strive to help others through the giving of their time and resources.
Our emphasis is on programs which are managed by four major facets: The Arts, International Trends and Services, National Trends and Services, and Services to Youth.
Through the years, we have donated over $20,000 to various organizations, including the United Negro College Fund, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the McCrorey YMCA, and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts & Culture. We also sponsor four-year scholarships to outstanding high school seniors, contribute to global as well as local humanitarian efforts, and volunteer numerous service hours for civic, educational, and artistic activities.
In 2009, the Charlotte Chapter established a signature program “Linking to Health and Wellness”. Under this umbrella, our award winning Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI) premiered. This family oriented program is called F.I.T. – Families In Training, and it addresses the causes of childhood obesity and the management of its effects on families through education and proper training. We also established the first “Walk for Childhood Obesity”, which will become an annual occurrence. Our focus is on raising the awareness of this devastating disease and trying to reduce the number of obese children in our society.
Our sincerest hope is that we will make a positive difference in the quality of the lives of all we encounter and we will endeavor to uphold our commitment to Service and Friendship.
Eddyce D. Hobson, President
