About Health and Human Services

The Links, Incorporated established the Health and Human Services Facet (HHS) in response to chronic health disparities that persist in black communities that result in the decreased life expectancy of people of African Ancestry.

The Charlotte (NC) Chapter focuses on education and health advocacy and supports the maintenance of good health and the elimination of chronic health disparities in the Charlotte, NC community.

Activities

Linkages to Life

Every year the Charlotte (NC) Chapter participates in Organ, Tissue and Bone Marrow Donation Awareness.  The Chapter attends Donor Sabbath Sunday and educates the congregation about the importance of registering as a donor with the Donate Life America - https://www.donatelife.net/.  The goal is decrease disparities in donor registration and transplantation in the African American Charlotte community.

Breast Cancer Awareness

The Charlotte (NC) is committed to raising awareness and funds for research to find a cure for breast cancer.  Every year the Chapter disseminates information to the Charlotte community about breast cancer and the importance of early detection by performing self-breast exams and getting an annual mammogram.

Every year the Chapter raises money for breast cancer exams, research and education initiatives by participating in local walks sponsored by the American Cancer Society and other organizations dedicated to breast cancer awareness.  .  #LinksInPink
